Basic Science & Clinical Evaluations
Dental Comprehensive Basic Science Examination (DCBSE)
Dental CBS examination evaluates students’ knowledge gained in the basic science part of the curriculum. It is also a great preparatory tool for the US National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) Part I.
The examination consists of all subjects included in the NBDE part I administrated by American Dental Association: Anatomic Sciences, Biochemistry-Physiology, Microbiology-Pathology and Dental Anatomy and Occlusion. DCBSE is a mandatory evaluation at PUMS.
Clinical Evaluation Exercise (MiniCEX)
Mini-CEX is method for simultaneously assessing the clinical skills of trainees and offering them feedback on their performance. It serves as a standardized format for an evaluator to observe a student at the bedside, hear the student’s assessment, and critique the interaction in a non-threatening, non-graded situation. It allows to verify skills that students have been practicing during the whole period of study, focusing on the clinical aspects of dental practice, focusing on the following aspects: history taking, physical examination, ergonomics and posture, manual skills, communication, critical judgement, professionalism, organization and efficiency and overall critical care.
Mini-CEX is mandatory for all dental students at PUMS.
